Hi
I bought this unit a few weeks ago and it has driven me mad as it takes between 5 and 10 minutes to work once it is turned on.
The unit does come on but seems to freeze for several minutes.
The sony centre I bought it from (Guildford, Surrey) never answers their phone but I am now at the point of packing it up and taking it back.
Any ideas of setting changes that might work before I have to get a refund?
Many thanks.
Doesn't sound right - have you upgraded to the latest firmware?
Maybe swing by the store and see how their display model performs. If its faulty, they should be able to swap it out if you've only had it for a couple of weeks.
Thanks
Jonathanmw: im having exactly the same problem.. Also seriously considering to return mine.
Though I do experience a faster startup if I cycle through Function.
I suspect it could be connected to other devices connected.
Could be interesting to hear how your system is connected.
I have a satellite box connected to HDMI 2 and an AppleTV to HDMI 1.
The tv is a 50" samsung connected to HDMI out.
We have similar issues. Turns on quickly enough but getting sound on either TV or sat/cab function sometimes takes ages!
I switched off the HDMI link and seems to work better since then - but my main reason for doing that was to be able to watch TV and listen to music through the system at the same time!
Other than that I love the system - great sound quality!!

Had same issue for last 5 months. Been to technical centre twice and had someone out to look at it.
Sony customer service has been abysmal. You ask for call backs and don't get them. Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. Whilst technically the product is good the service stinks. Won't ever reward service like this again with a repeat purchase.
They make ryanair look like the consumers champion !
Tried firmware uploads etc. Different HMDI cables etc.
Now I understand e problem could be associated with whether you are running the unit wi a Sony tv. Apparently if both are in quick start - which is the factory setting - then they can confuse one another !!!!
Try switching off the quick start on oth units and see if that improves it. After all can't be any slower than e current start times - usually about 10 mins. Not what one would expect having paid £1500 on high end equipment.
Good to see that no Sony staff ever visit these forums to add resolutions to their customers problems.
Indeed do customers even matter to these people once they have taken our money. Must be down to the poor financial performance of their European operation.
Let me know how you get on with ths fix as I have a 30 mile journey next week to collect mine from the service centre as my local Sony centre went into administration.
