Brand new BluRay BDP-S390 won't turn on - why?

Well, at first it would turn on.  And it connected to the internet. Which told me I needed new software.  Which I downloaded. Then it turned itself off.  So I unplugged everything and left it for a while. Then I rconnected - and it did turn on. But the disc drawer wouldn't open. So I tried turning the player off - - and it's never turned on again. What am I doing wrong?

i believe you unplugged it whilst it was still updating and that screwed it up, when downloading updates following the instructions given the player will turn itself off and on maybe several times whilst doing so, you must not touch any buttons or the player while its doing this.
