Can you connect a Soundbar to any Subwoofer wirelessly?

I’ve recently purchased a Sony HT-CT390 Soundbar online and it’s arriving without the Subwoofer.

I’m trying to find out if I need to buy the specific subwoofer model that’s usually sold with the CT390 to be able to connect wirelessly.

I have a few questions that I can’t seem to find answers for online or in this forum.

1) Is the Wireless connection between Soundbar and sub just Bluetooth?

2) Will any brand Subwoofer with Bluetooth connect and work in the same way?

3) If the answers to Q1&2 are both ‘no’, which specifics subs are compatible, and where’s best to source them (without buying a Soundbar to match as I already have one)

Hi Sproudfoot,

You will need the dedicated subwoofer (SA-WCT390) for the HT-CT390 soundbar.

Others won't work.

I wonder why you received the soundbar without woofer since the woofer is part of the product.
