Could someone please give me the full contact details to lodge a complaint in the UK.
Basicallly I have bought a new Sony Blu-Ray player (BDP-S185) based on the advice given by an online Sony representitive which turned out to be completely wrong (he advised me it has Netflix when it doesn't). After making my complaint known on this forum 2 weeks ago, Sony forum advisor Catmambo helped me & ended up putting me back on to the original Sony store advisor who miss-informed me. This advisor has since apologised for his error, but has advised me that Sony are unable to help.
Please note I am unable to return the unit because it is not faulty & is seen as used.
To add to the confusion, he miss-informed me again yesterday by contradicting himself & telling me Netflix is available on this device when it clearly is not.
I would like a full postal address to put everything in writing.
Hi Paule,
Based on the product description this device has Netflix support and I am pretty sure it does. The problem here is not the device itself but the fact that you are not located in the US. No device in the UK will actually play Netflix out-of-the-box. If however you would take your device to the US and connect it to the net Netflix will appear.
So how can you get around this? The easiest way is to let Netflix and your Player believe you are in the US which can be achieved by using a proxy server (and the good thing is that Sony Player are one of the few that do support this). If you like to know more and have some recommendation regarding Proxies and how to set up them, let me know.
