Connecting old DAV-DZ230 to new KDL-40HX753

I seem to have tried everything to get the surround system to receive an output signal from the tv. Can somebody please help.

There is only 1 scart socket on the back of the tv (which i have tried). Also tried red and white out to red and white(via scart) into DAV. Obviously the hdmi doesn't work either 😞

Am i being a complete plank?

No your not a complete plank but its highly unlikely your going to achieve what you want, after looking at the specs for this im confident its not possible.

your welcome, im sorry to hear you did not have much joy with Sony's helpline and we have no control over what they do or dont do, we are simply customers like yourself that come here with questions seeking answers as a community to help where we can, there are of coarse Sony staff that monitor these pages and help where ever they can too.

Thanks for your quick response, much quicker than Sonys own 'helpline' who just stole 45mins of my life just to hangup after they couldn't answer the question.
