I have an issue with a NDT500 HDD recorder purchased last month and came with the latest 4.21.r8585 firmware and is set up for Standby Mode 1.
When I switch the unit on while a scheduled recording is in progress, the unit starts to come on with the light bar flashing, the recording light goes out and the unit switches itself off. Switching back on and once started, after a short delay, the pre-set recording restarts giving 2 items in the listing, one with a (1) after the title.
I have done a reset and tried again, still the same.
Changing the Standby to Mode 2, then it is ok, no problem, notice that during the start & stop period the light bar was flashing for a shorter period. Switching back to Mode 1 Standby and switching on after a scheduled program had started to record, the problem returned, so it would appear this is a Standby issue.
I have spoken with Sony support and also placed a follow up email, but not had an answer to the problem, only things like, do a reset, upgrade firmware (already latest), look at Troubleshooting or if the problem still persistand have it examined/repaired by the Sony central service centre.
Is this a known issue with the Mode 1 Standby and does anyone else have similar problems?
I did notice a similar situation in another posting whereby the unit started to come on and then the flashing light bar went out and it switched itself off. Wonder if this unit was in Standby Mode 1?
