How to play a DVD-RW recorded on one Sony device on another

DVD-RWs recorded on RDR-HDX870 will not play on Vaio VGN-NW20SF.

As far as I can see, the discs are properly finalised.  Is it likely to be something to do with the VRO file format?

Any help and tips appreciated.
