HT-X8500
On the HT-X8500 soundbar, how does one tell if a mode is on or off? Now, you can tell with some modes such as Voice, if the blue light comes up, you’ve turned it on and if the white light comes up, you’ve turned it off, same for Night, but how does one tell if Cinema and Music mode are on or off? Is it possible to tell or not?
Thanks for the help!

I think the sound modes are toggles, so you can only have one at a time, and whoever you press one of the buttons, any existing mode is cancelled, and the one you pressed comes into force.
As an experiment, press Cinema, say, and then press it again. At a guess the three lights will come on for two seconds both times, though it’s just possible they won’t light up the second time because that sound mode is already on.
What I can’t discover is what sound mode is selected when you power the sound bar off and on. We know that this always cancels Night Mode, but I see three possibilities for sound mode at power on:-
Auto
Standard
Whatever mode it was when it was switched off.
You may be able to discern this by careful listening.

Hey @HannahEd01 @HarryMackenzie18
I didn’t specify it 😢, but my reply above was based on reading those pages in that manual.
@HannahEd01 can you please consult your colleagues in Sony, and get some answers to the questions I pose there, about some things that aren’t specified in that manual?

Based on page 8, it depends on the indicators it will let you know which mode it's on. But that seems a bit much to memorize.

There are no persistent lights for the sound modes, and I’m not sure if you even get a flash to confirm that you have set one.

Hey royabrown2, Sony doesn't have any of my colleagues. And as long as the manual doesn't state that certain settings have indicators, then they simply don't.

Oh, then what is a Specialist, exactly?
But if you look at the question I actually asked, it was:-

Auto
Standard
Whatever mode it was when it was switched off.
My list is possibly not exhaustive; but despite the answer not being in the manual, this is not a question that admits of a ‘they simply don’t’ answer 😢

Hmmm, that one is strange! Why don't you list all the indicators that doesn't properly show up and the ones that doesn't show up at all and maybe I'll try to pass your feedback and hope for the best.
