Hello,
I already have a Sony Bravia tv and a PS3 and have just treated myself to the HTAS5 cinema sound sytem. Since my PS3 & SkyHD box only have one HDMI output these are connected directly to my tv so the only thing connected to the sound system is my tv. However, when I press the 'Theatre' button on my remote to get the surround sound whilst watching Sky, my picture dims. Should this happen?
For anyone who has SkyHD, you will know that the menu background is a mix of blues but after turning on the surround these blues, and the rest of the picture, lose their 'vividness' (is that a real word??). It's then like watching the tv through sunglasses.
Also, because my PS3 only has one (one, can you believe it?) HDMI output that I have to connect to the tv, if I were to buy a HDMI splitter (I've seen one in Maplin for £50ish) would this give me any advantage apart from just enabling me to use the one remote. I've not yet tried a Blu-Ray or dvd through the PS3 since I've had my new toy so not sure how the sound or picture quality is with this. Oh, I also have an optical lead fitted between my tv and the sound system, in case you need to know.
I've got three Sony remotes now and can I operate them all, can I 'eck!! Oops, sorry, the sound system is operated by a Remote Commander, not a controller (so the manual says!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated and you would make this simpleton a happy man!
Thank you
Yeah thats normal the picture changes to give you optimal viewing (according to sony). However i would recommend plugging your cinema set into HDMI 1, and then plugging the ps3 into the cinema set amp (which should be located on the sub). After doing this put the sky HD in HDMI 2 and then connect optical lead from sky to the sub. This way you get all the surround sound replicated correctly!
