Problems encountered connecting STR-DN1080 with other sources

I have encountered problems when hooking up TV (LG), DvD (Pioneer), Sky Q and Apple TV (4K HDR) to my STR-DN1080.  The TV is set up using ARC through CEC.  Basically, the amp keeps trying to switch sources; so I could be trying to watch a DvD and all of a sudden the amp switches to Apple.  Same goes for Sky Q.  Sometimes, it takes 2 or 3 goes (i.e. pressing the source button 2 or 3 times) before the amp settles down.  I wondered whether this was a problem for Apple TV; whether its 'signal' was too strong or dominant.

For the short term, I have just hooked all sources up to the TV, using that to control sources.  It does work this way but I fear that I am not getting the best of the sound sourcing everthing through the TV.

Any suggestions/advice?  Anyone else suffering from the same problem?

Hi there,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

I'm looking into this for you and will update you as soon as I have more information.  In the meantime perhaps another member with a similar issue could advise.

Best wishes,

Hi albrist,

Welcome to our community!

This may be related to CEC settings being activated between the Apple TV box and the AV receiver.  Could you make sure that all control for HDMI settings on the devices connected to the AV receiver is disabled?

You can also try to disconnect the external devices from the receiver and disconnect it from the mains for a minute then plug it back in and connect the devices to test it.

Another thing that could help identify what causes this is to disconnect the Apple TV box and test the performance of the receiver with the other devices to see if the issue is with the Apple box or the receiver.

Let us know if this makes any difference.
