I have a Sony BDV-F500 Blu-ray player which was working great. The only problem is that my young son forced a dvd into the slot drive when there was a disc playing and now it doesn't play discs anymore Moral of the story- put the blu-ray on a higher shelf!
It can still recieve and eject discs but nothing plays, and the system still works in terms of on screen display etc. I'm assuming that something mechanical has broken in the disc drive itself. However I want to try and fix it if possible.
My questions are:
Is the blu-ray slot drive a standard purchasable/replacable part?
Has anyone got a part number for it for this model?
Has anyone done this before?
Are there any online howto's for this model or similar?
I reasonalbly technically savvy, and not afraid of pulling apart a piece of kit, (I have replaced laptop motherboards etc) but I dont want to pull this machine apart unless I am going to be able to fix it.
Many thanks in advance.
Tom

Hi,
seriously mate take it to your nearest authorised repair centre and get them to fix it, it may well be the lasers out of whack or damaged even, you really dont want to be messing around with it as you could end up injuring yourself or making matters worst, learn from this, move the player to a higher level so as smaller children cannot get to it, suck up the cost of getting it fixed then at the very least you know its done right.
