Sony STR DN1080 Picture Interference

Issue

Recently projection of output from DVD player is subject to interference – bands of white flash across lower half of screen every second or so.

Previously (for last 2+ years) no problems.  Although not necessarily connected, we have recently had the firmware upgrade.  But we have not used the equipment for a few weeks prior so do not know if problem is connected...

Equipment:

Sony STR-DN1080 receiver Software version: M41.R.0445  working 8 speaker home hifi – B&W and DALI speakers with video thru Mitsubishi HC3800 beamer. 

Input from Samsung DVD BD J5500 DVD player and EgoIggo S95X Pro Android Box.

Research Undertaken

1. Checked output with another DVD player – same interference
2. Checked output with DVD player thru a different input (from BD/DVD to SAT/TV to VIDEO 1) - same interference
3. Change HDMI cables – same interference
4. Check output from Pro Android Box – perfect picture
5. Check output from DVD player HDMI directly into beamer – perfect picture

Hi @JohnFlawith, welcome to the community.

It does sound as if the DVD player is no longer talking to the TV properly. We've not had any other instances of this on the forum as far as I can see.

Just a thought: is there any reason why you don't leave it hooked up to the beamer?
