SONY UPB X800M2 about SACD play back

Hi.

I have a SONY UPB X800M2 and I tried to play a SACD. From time to time I had a small interruption during the audition. I changed the SACD and the same thing happened.

I ask for SONY Support. The answer was:

"Regarding your request, SACD digital outputs, (either DSD or converted to PCM) are strictly restricted by a copy protection signal. Only AV receivers have a special chip that allows sound to be streamed without interruption. To solve this situation, you need an AV receiver."

What do you believe about this problem and their answer too?

Hey @DanNic2019

Did you check if the firmware of your device is up-to-date?

I'd also recommend that you try to perform a factory reset.

I tend to believe it.

You might want to go through the manual:-

looking for occurrences of ‘Super Audio CD’ (there are none of SACD), and toggling the various settings that reference this, but the consensus does seem to be that the player puts out DSD, over HDMI only, and needs a connected device that can decode DSD.

Whether it can play out in other formats over HDMI, or over other digital outputs, with or without compromising the benefits of SACD, you will need to find out by experimentation, but what Sony have replied to you does seem to be the case for full uncompromised SACD.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…
