Hi, I'm using the STR-DH810 AV amp and am having issues trying to have audio and video coming from different inputs at the same time...
I have an external media player that only has a DVI output, convering it to HDMI is simple using a DVI-HDMI cable, so I can get the video just fine. It also outputs audio via an optical link, so I've connected this up to the AV BD optical input.
Now I can see great video, but can't hear anything and when I switch inputs to BD I get great audio but no video...SO I checked the manual and went to the a.assign menu:
I switched back to video showing on screen (HDMI-2)
select a.assign
select BD
a "?" shows...this doesn't look promising...
So, I've got this far, what am I missing? How do I select audio to come in via the BD optical link?
Thanks for any insights!
It is...normal because each video input are assigned to an audio input.
The easiest way for you, is to connect the External media player to the TV and the optical to amp and there you go!
If you feel confident enough, then you can dig into the menu:
With Factory setting none of the 4 HDMI plug are assigned.
If you want to play pass Videp+Audio through the external media player with an assigned input you have 2 options
*Under BD
Amp Menu>Video>V Assign>BD>HMDI (1-4)
Amp Menu>Audio>A Assign>BD> BD OPT
*Under SAT/CATV
Amp Menu>Video>V Assign>SAT/CATV>HMDI (1-4)
Amp Menu>Audio>A Assign>SAT/CATV>SAT/SAT OPT
Hi there, i had a similar problem last night, but if you have an optical attached and something playing through it, the reciever will recognise it and when you press on the front of the reciever "input mode" repeatedly until it says "optical" on the front, it will work. I figured this out last night when trying to get optical from one source and picture from another.
P.S my typing is not good, so had to edit this a few times...such a short paragraph too.
