str-dh820 receiver subwoofer - no sound

Trying to set up the subwoofers on this receiver I bought yesterday. No sound , auto calibration doesn't pick them up. I'm running passive subwoofers & have tried all speaker settings and sizes. Any ideas?

i may be a little rusty on this but i think you need Active subs on this reciever and not Passive
