STR DN1080 Remote and App

Hi, I have regular problems with the remote and Music Centre App. The remote looses full functionality with only very limited buttons working. Home button does not  work. Only solution is to switch off at the wall and switch on. 

Music Centre App wil not find the receiver at all (despite connection via Bluetooth in phone settings). Same soloution - switch off at wall and switch on again. 

Permanent solution needed ! Any similar experiences??? Thanks

HI Steve,

 

Welcome to the Sony Community.

 

I would suggest a factory reset which should resolve the issue for you. 


Make sure to use the buttons on the receiver to perform this operation.

  1. Turn off the receiver.

  2. Hold down  (power) on the receiver for 5 seconds.

    [CLEARING] flashes on the display panel for a while, then changes to [CLEARED !].

I, also have problems with my home button not working, so I tried holding in the power button until the clearing message appeared but the problem is that it won't stop showing a blinking clearing message.  I unpluged the receiver overnight and pluged back in but it didn't help.  Any ideas?

I have the same issues , I end up powering off the amp and back on and then it works buts it’s happending more frequently now , I’ve checked the network and the amp is on the network but fir some reason the app can’t connect ?? And ideas

Hi,

 

I can only suggest the solution above. It worked for me and is still OK from last summer. I recognise the issue (another comment above) of after holding the power button to clear settings and it continues to flash... I had the same and decided after 5 mins to switch off from wall. In my case this worked and I was able to do speaker setup again. Good luck.

I'm having the same issue and wondered whether I'd set mine up incorrectly. I've tried the factory reset, on a number of occasions and it's still happening. Also, you then have to completely set up the speakers and the radio inputs, every time you do it. I've also disconnected from mains, for 60 seconds, as has been suggested by others, once again it does not stop the problem from happening. I really am getting fed up with this, especially after all the great reviews this product has. Can anyone advise the best solution. I play my TV through main zone and use Zone 2 to drive my trip-amped, Linn speakers, so using Chromecast the majority of time, which is always losing it's connection! This really is a letdown after all the great reviews. Very disappointed in the unit's operation and functionality. The thing is, when it's working properly, which is very rare, it does sound great!
