Using HT-ZF9 with an AV receiver

Hi All,

I’m currently using the Sony HT-ZF9 sound bar with the wireless rear speakers as the audio system for my setup. I’m in the process of getting and AV receiver, namely the Sony STR-DN1080 and I’m trying to figure out what’s the best way of using it with these speakers.

My first question would be, is it possible to connect these speakers wirelessly to the receiver? Basically it would great if the actual receiver can take over the part of HT-ZF9 as the system that all media goes through.

If it’s not possible then is the only way of getting things hooked up properly to connect the HDMI out of the receiver to the HDMI in of the sound bar then connect the sound bar to the TV? Is there a better way of managing this?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

Tamas

Hey Tamas , the STR is capable of connecting to Bluetooth speakers, however, it's mot compatible with your ZF9.

For the connections check the manuals of both devices here:

-Receiver page 12:  https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4686/1a5e9c2b4143ad36dd5cb360f2a11851/46865241M...

-Soundbar 10: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/4727/d1ff451e44dc39fc895aec29e654d9a6/47275332M...

The best way in my opinion is to connect the receiver directly to the TV HDMI ARC, and the bar to the receiver.

Let me know if you need anything else.
