Hi,

I have tried this and the channel list doesn’t load from the usb memory stick onto the software editor. Tried two different usb memory sticks, several exports from the TV and lost count of the upload attempts. My TV is 2014 version of KD-55X9005A, this software is supposed to work with TVs from 2012 onwards. The exported file is on the memory stick and can be selected, it just does not load.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Hi @Jonnie1266

That's a little odd. Could you double check the file you are uploading? It should be an 'xdb.xml' file; this article describes its location at the 'How to use the tool' section.

It's also worth copying the file from the thumb drive to your local hard drive before trying to open it.

Cheers

Mick

Hi @Mick_D,

Many thanks for your reply, I have tried as you say but still no cigar. I have uninstalled the channel editor and re-downloaded / re-installed from the Sony Support page. I have saved the sdb.xml file (I presume this is what you meant without typo xdb.xml) to my hard drive. I have installed Java, the editor program cannot open without it.

Once the program is open I click on File then Load Channel List, I select the sdb.xml from the folder I have saved it to, I have even tried Desktop, then just a black screen. A small window does open which says 'switch between television and radio list' but there is nothing there! Not only that but the radio buttons do not work either. Edit: Actually the Exit button works.

For further information I am operating Windows 7 64bit. I hope you can help as I would find this tool very useful given the fact that Freeview cannot make their minds up and keep moving things :rage:

Hi Jonnie,

It seems like you are already following the steps to the word so I don't think you are doing anything wrong yourself. I'd suggest maybe trying to open the file using a different PC just as a test? Also maybe try making sure the TV's firmware is up to date using this link: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-legacy-lcd-tv/kd-55x9005a/downloads/Z0000308

Hi @Win_88

Thanks for your response, everything is up to date, I am quite ***** about these things LOL.

The requirements suggest a computer with internet access, no mention of operating system. I wonder if Windows 7 is okay?

Unfortunately I do not have access to another Windows PC, house is full of Apple products!

I take it that the software works for you? Can you tell me what system you are operating, I need to eliminate for the problem solving.

Regards

Edit: Oops, moderator did not like my word, wasn’t swearing honest

Hi Jonnie,

I think Windows 7 is more than adequate for the task so I don't presume that's got anything to do with it. In this case, maybe you can try going at this from the TV side by resetting it to factory settings and re-tuning the channels before exporting the list again.

Hi @Jonnie1266,

Sorry to hear that it doesn't work for you.

Would you mind sending your sdb.xml so we can investigate?

Thanks a lot in advance

Cheers
Peter

P.S. I send you a PM with my mail address.

Hello,

I'm having the exact same problem as Johnny1266.

I export the file from my telly, i import the file into the Sony App on my Windows 10 PC and nothing but a blank interface just as if i had not imported the XML file. I've tried on a differnt PC and no joy. Running Win10Pro 1809 and Java 191 both 32-bit and 64bit. if that info is any use.

Was the blank import ever resolved?

Hi Continuing this thread, I to cannot load the xml file the following have been done...

1) Latest firmware running on TV KDL-48W705C

2) Editor v 1.2 loaded

3) Java 32 & 64bit environment loaded on PC

4) Exported file (numerous times) 222k size and there appears to be content when opened with Word.

5) Have tried moving file from USB to Documents folder on PC no change

6) PC security is Bitdefender and no advisory notifications generated

To Sony Technical Support

What is causing the file not to be loaded as it appears to be correctly written to?

Post script.....

This occurred after a firmware update on the TV the day before.

Today I performed a factory reset and exported the newly scanned program list. This the loaded correctly, hope this helps others.

I am also experiencing similar problems.  I have extracted the file onto a USB stick and tried to load into the app - both on an iMac and a Win10 laptop.  The result is the same.  I just get a blank screen in the channel editor.

The TV is a KDL-40EX653.  I will try a factory reset to see if this mkes a difference.

Edit:  The factory reset worked for me as well.  I should have tried before posting, but had convinced myself it wouldn't make any difference!
