So after I finally solved my problem with corrupted file on my phone,I found out that the files(more precisely photos and videos)stored on my sd card, take up the same amount of memory in internal storage...meaning that the 508mB of files stored on my sd card appear on my internal storage and take up 508mB of the 4.1 GB available which is a pretty big chunk, does any1 know how to get rid of this? Here are the screens:

That's quite odd, I'm almost certain that it is the thumbnail folder, connect your phone to a PC > computer > xperia L > internal storage > DCIM > delete the thumbnails, if you are certain that you have the pictures/videos on your SD card you can delete the 100Andro folder

I can't see the screenshots just yet, you can upload them to box.com and post the public links, how about
settings > apps > all > album > clear cache
also use a file manager (OI File Manager) > internal storage > DCIM > thumbnails > delete this folder > restart your phone

I already cleared the album cache but it didn't help, won't deleting the thumbnails folder also delete the photos?I'm just asking, because I did that once and it deleted the photos along with the thumbnails...although when I search through the data,it shows that all my photos and videos are on my sd card as the should be but thumbnails takes up exactly the same data amount on internal.

U can safetly clear .tumbnails folder without any risk of loosing pictures and video because they are in other folder called 100ANDRO.
Use some 3rd party app (Root Explorer , ES File Explorer,OI File Manager) from Google Play to navigate to those folders.
ps. in .tumbnails folder you may find some .jpg files but those are not photos but only reduced-size
versions of pictures, used to help android for recognizing and organizing for Album app.

Everytime you will take a photo and it will be displayed in album,a thumbnail is created. If you clear data for album, the thumbnails are removed and recreated.Never delete 100andro,there are all your camera pics and recordings.
