I've had only had this phone for half a year now, and it been working fine until yesterday when it decided it will no longer connected to my pc through usb. The phone is still charging, but the menu that let me pick the different usb mode is no longer there. I can't use usb enthernet either. 😕 I tried different cables, and even witching the usb port (I'm connecting directly to my pc so that can't be the issues.) Even tried connected to another laptop.

I've tried everything from factory format, taking out my sd card, to installing sony companion. Still nada. I even go to builder setting and forced the usb connecting to mtp mode, but still nothing happened. I'm at the end of my rope here and I really want to avoid having to have my phone replace again.

It happened just out of the blue with no warning. Just woke up one day, and suddenly it refused to connect to the pc.

try to connect using the original cable . restart both devices. pc and phone.

or try to connect while you are on safe mode

sometimes if the menu doesnt show up. you can try to pull down the notification shade, and tap on the notfication that says "connected for charging" or something simillar

I lost the original cable so I can't try that. Already tried restarting for my devices as well as safe mode and yeild nothing. Yes, normally it would have the tab in the pull down notification, but this time there are nothing. It's like, the phone looks at my pc as a charging port instead.

(Before you ask, I already tried connecting it to another pc, and it didn't work either)

I've been having this same issue for more than 3 months, I cannot connect the phone to the PC (and as a consequence, I cannot update it). I've tried in different PC and laptops (one of them is a Sony Vaio), also with 3 usb cables, all of them provided by Sony. In this time, the phone was recongnized as connected only a very few times, around 3 or 4, but even so I cannot update it, because it is required to turn off the phone and reconnect it to the PC, and when I do so, it's not recognised again. This is frustrating and it seems this problem is happening to a lot of people. I've been looking for a solution in several forums and no one gives us an answer.

Exactly! A few weeks ago it suddenly works again after a new update, but then it suddenly stop working now. Just like that. No error, no warning, just suddenly stop working. This is just incredibly frustrating!
