I think my phone is bricked...

My phone: Xperia Play r800i (bought in UK)

Previously, my phone had 2.3.4 (the FW was .42). I wanted to have the JokaWild v3 ROM on my phone but relized that you needed to have a .62 FW. So I decided to flash the .62 FW on my phone. I unlocked my bootloader and downloaded the .62FW and flashtool. I installed the drivers that came with flashtool (flashtool > drivers > flashtool-drivers.exe). I then placed the .ftf file in the firmware folder in the flashtool folder. I then opened up flashtool, and loaded the .ftf file, so now i had to plug in my phone whilst i held the back button. A green LED light came up and it started flashing. Then i got an error than the thread or application has been aborted (something like that). This always happen when its flashing the file 'system.sin' and everything goes wrong when its about 23% of the process. Ive tried soo many times. Ive tried different FWs, different versions of flashtool but still the same problem. Also, it takes soooo long. It takes about 5 houirs for it to reach 20% and then it gives that irritating error!!!

And now, whenever I try to turn on my phone, the Sony Ericsson logo comes up and then a picture of a phone and an exclamation mark appears. And this keeps on looping. I believe its called a boot loop. So now, I dont know what to do.... Is there any way I can fix this??!?

OMG, somebody PLEASE find/confirm a solution for this. As of today I now have the EXACT SAME problem. (down to the firmwares) Were you by chance using Doomlord's v14 kernel on a generic stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 ? NOTHING is working for me and I'm going nuts.

please? anybody? every attempt to run flashtool fails at system.sin regardless of what I try to flash
I have a R800i w/ an unlocked bootloader, rooted using doomlord's zergrush exploit. i was  on a generic stock 4.0.2.A.0.42 with Doom's v14 kernel. I did a full factory reset wiping all data and the cache and then attempted to flash 4.0.2.A.0.62 (1253-4437). I've been stuck in a boot loop ever since. and now my battery is dying and I can't seem to get ANYTHING to work. I noticed you've posted something else about losing your contacts since then so I am assuming you eventually got SOMETHING to work.  Can anybody help me? or at least give me more advice than use flashtool to flash a stock rom. I know how to follow directions, It's just that nothing is working. Could somebody please at least point me in the right direction?

first try to relock your bootloader

then try to use pc compananion or update service

Ive been all up and down the XDA forums and all over google looking for a solution, and the only little ray of hope I can find is THIS POST on THIS PAGE. Finding out I'm not alone made me at least feel a little less hopeless. I'm really interested to see what steps the OP ultimately took to get his phone working again.

after relocking your bootloader try both pc companion and SUS..

IF THAT doesn't help then follow these steps, and please try agaim using both the roms given below

i know you tried but do it again. use the roms below, try both roms

This is how to downgrade

1)-Download flashtool- Flashtool and install it

Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and exit

2) download rom

Mobile4.0.2.A.0.42
4.0.2.A.0.58
4.0.2.A.0.62
Play4.0.2.A.0.42
4.0.2.A.0.62

if the rom is of .rar tye then extract it to get the .ftf file

3) NOTE: only .ftf files to be placed

All users, place .ftf file as follow- copy .ftf file to C:/ > flashtool> firmwares > and paste

4) Run flashtool> click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option),,,Select flashmode > ok

5) left side you must see your firmware name and content ,, on the right side mark boxes as

select ok

6)Wait for it to prepare and it will ask you to connect your mobile, follow the steps carefully and connect flashing will begin and flash

this is EXACTLY what ive been doing, but as i am HAPPY to have anyone willing to help I will do it all again right now and save you the logs so you can see what's happening to me or why doing this normally      ISNT working. Thank you for being willing to help. it means a lot

So now I can't even get it into flash mode? I think my battery is dead. I can't get it to charge and all it does now is occasionally flash red. what do I do now?
