BBC iPlayer stopped working on SMP-N200

BBC iPlayer has been working fine for about a year. Suddenly yesterday it stopped working. It tried to connect and then after about 30 seconds it says "a network error has occurred" and offers to reconfigure network settings, but the network diagnostics show that the network is fine and I can play streaming media from a local DLNA server (Serviio).

I can see in these forums that this has happened a few times in the past to people, and it seems to have fixed itself after a while. However it seems to be rare and the last time anyone reported it was a year ago. It appears that it may be a problem with Sony's servers. I wonder if Sony are aware of the problem and will fix it themselves?

I can see by watching network traffic that the box suucessfully connects to Sony's servers, exchanges some data, and then appears to stop. Sony's server kills the connection after 15 seconds of inactivity:

Do you have any idea what might be wrong? Do you know if Sony monitors these forums?

Cheers, Chris.
