Bravia KDL-HX803

Just bought this set last week and thought I would share my thoughts and ask a couple of questions.

Overall I am very happy indeed with this set.  The picture quality out of the box was really good, and got even better after a couple of hours playing with the picture settings.  Turning the backlight (way too bright out of the box, makes all the blacks grey!)  and the blue gain in the white balance down made the most difference as the whites do seem to have a blue tinge to them.

The sound quality from the built in speakers could be better, but mediocre quality in this area is to be expected from a slim set I suppose.  This improves massively when linked to a hifi.

Youtube and iplayer work brilliantly through the UWA-BR100 dongle.

A couple of things I'd like to know,

1) I can't get the Media remote for Android to work with the set.  Am I doing something wrong, or is the app just not compatible with my set?  I have updated to the latest firmware if that makes a difference.  And the phone I'm trying to use as a remote is the Samsung Galaxy S2.

2) Why are there no internet widgets available on the set - i.e., browser, facebook etc?  It's a minor point for me but we have lesser (and much older!) Sony LCD sets in the house which have widgets on.  Given that my new set has full VOD, internet video etc., this exclusion seems a bit odd.

Thanks very much for reading

Hi and Welcome, the HX803 should work ok with Media Remote, although there are no real benifits for this TV, you may need to ask the TV to access a PC or something if it is not being seen by the App, sometimes routers will not have the IP active if its not being used.

As for the other network features, these were only on the NX model last year sorry.
