Can you explain model number structures and interpretations for me?

Hi,

I'm interested in buying a Sony TV, but I'm confused by the model numbers:

1) I've found out that EX is essential, NX is network, etc, but why is it that when I click on something saying Network TVs in the Sony website I see both EX and NX systems? This is illogical, and really confusing.

2) There are numerous models. Is this because the numbers at the end still represent colours, and they come in multiple colours? Or are there technical differences between these differing numbers?

Sorry, but I'm a technician, and I need a logical interpretation system (e.g. 325i means three series, roughly 2500 cc, fuel injected: if I was buying it, I'd know exactly what I was getting)

Many thanks!

Cheers,

jzh

Hi Damac,

Tx. That's really useful: especially the fact that the (say) 5500 part is two lots of two characters, each with a different meaning!

Anyone know if there's an officially published list of what the various components could be?

Regards,
