This feature relies on Software developers to create content along the lines of Yahoo widgets, Sony launched a system at the about the same time as Yahoo, unfortunately the European community went with the later and Sony's was not taken as a standard.

Sony did have development kits available on request from software or advertising providers, in comparison the Japan Market is flooded with Widgets on the Sony system

http://www.sony.jp/bravia/technology/internet/applicast/develop/user_appli30_21.html

Sony was never meant to create these Applicasts, they are meant to help other vendor’s to offer services.

Page 29 also says - Widgets may be changed or terminated without prior notification to the user.

Hi Mladen,

I can't ever recall Sony committing to develop Applicast, I'd be interest to know why you believe they promised this..:smileyconfused:

Oh yes, Sony does do that, just start On Screen manual on KDL 40W5500 or 32V5500 and read it.

   :dizzy:

DO YOUR PROMISE OR BACK MONEY!!!

Oh, yes just start On Screen Manual on KDL W5500 or KDL V5500 and read it in Applicast section.

And PLEASE do not delete my post, it is too poor to that!

And why I' can't send e-mail from e-mail form to Sony Support?

When I' try to login I get message that my account is not valid?

I create new account but I can't send email!

Hi,

I've checked in this Bravia operating manual but couldn't see anything relating to a commitment, only reference to AppliCast is on page 29..:smileyconfused:

Features KDL-40W5810  (from sonys website)

View information from the internet on screen while watching TV with Applicast™.   Pre-installed services include a series of handy widgets such as an  Analogue Clock and a Calendar, and in the future you can download even  more

I just started a similar thread before I found this one.

Bottom line is, Sony implied there would be new apps released. I expected (as would most people) that when an app is released for their current range, unless major h/w stops the app working on previous models, it would also be released on previous models.

You don't buy a top end computer and expect no new software to work on it 18 months later (ok, might not be able to run some top end 3d games maxed out etc, but most apps etc will work), I have a ipod touch, not the latest generation but there's still apps galore released every day that work fine.

What Sony are in effect saying is that if I spend £2000 on a Sony TV today, don't expect them to give a dam about me in 18 months time, if I want new apps, I need a new TV.   Their choice, but it's my wallet.

I'm about to buy a Android tablet in the next 3 months, if this is Sonys attitude, theirs won't even be considered.

It will also be the last Sony TV I ever buy.
