Hello,
I am connecting my Macbook Pro to my Bravia KDL40EX403U via HMDI cable and mini jack to phono. The visual works fine and the quality is great however when I try to connect up the sound it doesnt work.
I am using an HMDI cable for the video and a mini jack to phono (red/white) for the audio.
The mini jack is connected to the headphone socket and I made sure the preferences on the Macbook Pro are set so sound output is through the headphone jack. I've tried connecting the phono's into the side of the TV and into all the red and white connectors at the back (including swapping the video HMDI cable too) and no sound came through on any HDMI port or phono socket.
Am I doing something wrong? On my old Samsung all you had to do was pop the HDMI cable in and hook up the phono cables and done, the sound and video came through without a problem.
Can anyone shed some light on this? It is such a shame as the HDMI video quality looks great, but it's pointless if I need to play the sound from the tiny macbook speakers.
I did notice there was another black input that almost looks like a mini jack connector underneath HDMI 4. Do I need a mini jack to mini jack cable?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Ewan
Unfortunately haven't got a solution for this, but I am amazed you have even managed to connect your TV to Macbook and got a result. I have been trying for ages without success. Took Macbook to John Lewis where i bought TV, they checked I had bought the correct cables from them, then demonstrated how to connect computer. It worked, albeit on a Panasonic TV as they didn't have Sony available.
I have been in to AppleStore at Brent Cross London to talk to a Genius whose only suggestion was to select Detect Displays.
I am at the end my tether with this, DVD recorder on the blink, don't want to replace that at the moment, therefore want to use iPlayer to catch up with TV....
HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO ACTUALLY CONNECT TV......
Hi
What cables did they sell you in the store? Can you walk though the steps you have taken so far so we can try and identify the problem?
Thanks
