I was told my TV came with a 5 year warranty!

The Sony sales rep and the Manager in the shop that sold me the TV I purchased, a KD-55X9005A, both told me that the TV came with a 5 year warranty.  When I registered my product just now, it says I have a one year warranty, but that I can buy a 5 year plan.

Please tell me what gives here?

Nice one for giving them the link with Ireland support details @Pete4L :slight_smile:

If you scroll down to the bottom of that page and click 'contact Support'

it will then let you access the contact details after selecting which type of electronics you need help with on the following page.

@Micksul  Personally I would phone them first on +353 (0) 14073341

and then follow up with an email with your details.

Hi

My sony 65xe9005b brought from currys/pcworld has the 5 year guarantee written on the receipt.

It states your television is automatically registered for a sony guarantee.

Why can't I get/activate my free 5 year warranty on my new Sony TV, I can only find information about the statutory 1 year warranty

I purchased a tv from the Sony centre in Bright with a 5 year extended warranty, Dec 2020. The tv failed and Sony replaced it but will only offer a warranty the same as the old tv. I was told that we were getting a comparable new model and therefore assumed it would have a new warranty but it is only covered by the old one?

Seems Sony don't have a great deal of faith in their Bravia tv's

@Beaconview.44

I had this when my Bravia X55 packed up.... It is in the T&C's of the 5 year guarantee that replacements will only have the remainder of the guarantee that was left on the original item.

On the plus side at least they replaced your TV!!.... Should be good for at least another 4 years.... 🙄

@Lemms247

The website only shows the standard warranty, even after registration.

But you can register the 5 years one by reaching out to the Sony support reps and asking them to register it for you, which they will and then give you a contract for it.

Things to keep in mind though:

  • You'll need to confirm this extended plan is from Sony, not the store.
  • You'll also need to wait 30 days before you can call/email/chat to register it (I believe this is because it takes time for sales data is provided to Sony from all stores).
  • They will definitely ask you for a receipt.

Hope this helps!

They only give one year guarantee coz their TV are *****e and keeps breaking!

Bought our TV not even 2y ago and was temporary fixed, never replaced. Once guarantee expired, TV broke down.Wifi not working, keeps changing Channels itself. Colours are weird, apps not working, volume going up and down itself.
