Hello Both,

I think there are 2 seperate issues here although I may be wrong.

1. Idle TV standby

This means that if the TV set is left for some time the TV st switches off into standby unless a button is pressed.

Depending on model this is different but here are 2 versions

This can be solved by

1. press "Menu" or "Home" on remote (Depending on type)

2. Go down to settings

3. Go to ECO Menu

4. Idle TV stand by set to off (other settings 1Hr/2Hr/3Hr)

OR

1. Press "HOME" on the remote

2. Scroll left to settings

3. select system settings

4. down to eco >select>

5. Down to idle tv standby>select>

6. adjust to 'off'.

7. Use return button to get back to home screen.

Second Issue

2. TV does not power down (on or stand by only)

When software upgrades need to be done, they are usually done overnight to avoid any problems with the set during normal viewing (theoretically).

If the TV sets are turned off overnight then any software upgrades cannot be processed.

When the TV set is in standby the power consumption is <1W, but it is still higher than total power off and this has been fed back Sony.

Hope this helps.

Unplug it !!!!!!!

If its the Bravia EX503 range then I am afraid you can't, unbelievable on a 2010 Enviromentally friendly LCD....

Forgive me for sounding stupid or needing glasses but I don't have a 'Menu' on my Bravia remote. I have an 'Options' and a 'Home" but I cant find a path to the ECO settings from any button!!! Will someone please point out how dumb I am and tell me how.

The I-manual tells you what you can do - BUT NOT HOW TO DO IT!

Sorry Guys for sounding techy ... feeling very frustrated right now.

This worked for my W809C:

Press home on the remote
Scroll down ( through the you tube stuff, apps etc) to the settings icon

Select settings

Scroll right to 'Power'

Select power, then Eco then Idle TV Standby & switch off or change the timing.

Hope this works for you.

To cancel "idle standby" for TV Model: KDL-43W756C

1) Handset "HOME"

2) Scroll down to "Settings" >Press "Select/Enter" (centre of wheel)

3) Scroll across to "Power" >Press "Select/Enter"

4) You will see "Power" and "Eco" >Press "Select/Enter"

5) Scroll up or down to "Idle TV standby" >Press "Select/Enter"

6) Scroll up or down to "Off" >Press "Select/Enter"

Go back to watching your TV
