KDL50W655 - Brightness/Flashing Issues

Hi

Have just hooked up this TV and have two issues, would be very grateful for any advice or thoughts!

1 - The screen seems to lighten up randomly as though its trying to re-adjust or something. It will fluctuate for a few seconds and then settle. Auto Light limiter etc are all disabled

2 - A stuck red pixel appeared in the corner as soon as we hooked the TV up. What are my options with this?

Many thanks for any help or advice offered!

Ok, next couple of ideas

  • Eco Settings > Power Saving = Turn it OFF

Picture Display Settings:

  • Turn OFF - Reality Creation
  • Turn OFF - Video Area Detection
  • Turn OFF - Advance Contrast Enhancer (in advanced Settings)
  • Turn OFF - Auto Light Limiter (in advanced Settings)
  • Turn OFF - Live Colour (in advanced settings)
  • Have a look at other settings to see if it would be suitable

Double Checking:

  • You did turn Light Sensor OFF didnt you?
  • Picture Mode = STANDARD (Instructions : HERE)
  • Scene Select = GENERAL (Instructions : HERE)

Fingers crossed

Cheers

Hi there

1:

Im wondering if something like Scene mode is set to Auto (or something), try setting it to Standard or General

http://pdf.crse.com/manuals/13LW600114/EN/c_aadjust_scene.html

I know you said, but double check the ECO settings for ambient light, etc etc

2:

A stuck pixel - though one here, if its one...Best contact your retailer on this one.  All else fails, contact Sony Support : HERE

Cheers

Hi Quinnicus

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

1) Checked and I had already set it to Cinema mode. I tried watching on Standard and it still did it. Any other ideas?

2) Will do, thanks for the link

Thanks again!

Hi Quinnicus

Thanks again for this, as it is the store are exchanging the set for a new one due to the pixel problem.

However your suggestions did work for the flashing issue, I had all the options you listed disabled apart from Advance Contrast Enhancer and Live Colour. Disabling these did the trick, so very good to know for the future

Thanks again for the help, much appreciated!

Hi, I hope you get the issue sorted with the TV! Can I just ask where you bought it from? Also is the bezel black or silver?

I'm thinking of buying one (can only see Argos as selling it in England) and there is some confusion over the actual bezel colour. Some people say its Black on the 655 model others say Silver just like the 656?

Any help would be great!

Regards,

Brad

Hi

Bought mine online and the bezel is silver. Looks really nice and happy with the TV apart from the above issues

Hope that helps!
