New Smart TV won’t connect via WiFi

New Sony Bravia KDL-32WD756, software version 8.213-1000-1.330-01. Trying to connect to WiFi with no success. Virgin Media Ireland are broadband provider using the VM Hub (device name Compal CH7465LG-VM).  Note I connected to the internet with Ethernet cable via this device and also via a hotspot created on phone.   Only the 2.4GHz connection is available and the message received when failing to connect to the network is wireless device on tv: found; Local Access: Failed; Internet Access: Failed. I have reset the modem, switched everything on and off multiple times. Called Virgin Media twice with no success - they have suggested contacting Sony. All other devices (smart phones, tablets etc) connecting to internet via WiFi without any problems. Any suggestions or am I just better off bringing back the TV and getting a different model?

Hi Darraghlee,

It seems that this is not the latest firmware version for your TV. Here is the latest update: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/lcd-tvs-wd75x_w75xd-series/kdl-32wd756/downloads/00015630

Also, here are some steps listed by Sony for the same internet connection results you have: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/televisions-projectors-lcd-tvs/articles/00090417

Let us know if the problem remains,

I have all the same problems with my 2017 purchased Bravia KD55X720E tv.   I have tried factory reset,  router reset, connecting with Ethernet cable...

Also  all 3 of my USB ports failed at the same time.

Q:

1) how are we to know if a firmware update is required?

2) if it is required,  how are we to apply it if  i) it cannot be downloaded because the tv cannot connect to the internet & ii) the usb ports don't work so you can't use a usb key ?

So for now my less than 2 year old smart TV has been dumb for two months.
