Sony Bravia 55x9005b - cannot connect to BBC iPlayer and Netflix

Hi All,

Can anyone help - My TV which I had had for some time will now not allow BBC iPlayer or Netflix. Despite refreshing the internet several times, I keep getting the re-occuring message when trying to watch a show "Internet download failed because content size exceed system memory limit". This is a very slim chance that it might work on an off chance but usually frustration has kicked in and so, I use another TV instead. When trying to play Netflix, the symbol showing it is loading continually shows but the app itself never loads or a  message saying that the internet has failed appears.

I am currently paying for Superfast Broadband, so the internet capabilities should not be an issue. I can see that there are historical threads relating to this issue, but can anyone offer any current advice?

Help please, anyone?

Hi @enda01

Are you running the latest firmware?

Note you may be better off buying a modern streaming stick like Amazon Fire or Roku and connect it to your TV.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have the latest update installed on my TV and so, this is not the issue.

Such a disappointment that despite purchasing a well known brand, it seems that basic capabilities cannot function on the TV. I may look into getting a stick or indeed a new non-Sony TV!

Hi @enda01

You are looking at this from the wrong direction. It is probably the BBC and Netflix that have decided to stop supporting your TV. It could be your TV's hardware that doesn't support the latest Apps. I'm only guessing. Certainly the latest Sony TVs do.
