Sony TV - Warning. Do not purchase unless you buy the extended warranty

Just a warning to all you Sony TV buyers.

I purchased a 65" 4k TV for £4,000 2 years ago with the standard 1 year warranty.

It started developing lines on the TV recently.

Called up customer service to see what can be done.

The least i expected was an offer to exchange the TV at cost price for another TV.

But no, nothing. They don't care.

It's your problem it's out of warranty. They don't want to know.

So now i have a £4,000 2 year old 65" 4k tv rotting away in my garage.

If anyone wants to buy it, give me a call, i'll sell it to you for a giveaway price.

I'm going Samsung from now on. These guys obviously don't care.

Hi there

 

As your TV is out of Warranty, I would advise contacting the retailer that you have purchased it from and see if they can help.  Also, read up on the Sale of Goods Act.

The retailer was Sony Online.

And they refusing to repair the tv unless i pay the repair costs in direct contravention of the sale of goods act.

I will be reporting them to the trading standards accordingly.
