Subtitles - pushing through DLNA to KDL-__EX720

Anyone knows how to force subtitles trough DLNA ?

I tried a few DLNA servers (Mezzmo, Serviio, TVersity, Microsoft Media Player). I've put the subtitle in the same folder and with the same name as the movie and none succeeded.

Ideas?

Tks.

Finally after trying allot of mediaservers I found PS3 Media Server (http://www.ps3mediaserver.org).

Is transcoding all files by default including subtitles.

Is working also with KDL-26EX320.

You can not have it that way. Subbtitle will not be transfered via DLNA.

Subtitle will appiered via DLNA JUST in case they are in the movie, intergated. Ok?  Not integrated by the hend.

Hi there.

I have registered to this site just so I can share this link with you.
I am owner of W808 and I am missing this functionality, so I have created petition.
I hope that we can change Sony's opinion and make it believe that subtitles over DLNA are needed and should be implemented despite not being defined in DLNA standard.

Petition:

Edit: Link removed due as petitions against Sony are against the forum rules.

Hi there draxcp6

In regards to subtitles via DLNA, have you tried a program called Homestream : HERE or even Serviio : HERE - both of which are able to transcode subtitles.

Unfortunately I will have to remove your link to the petition, as its against the rules of the forums.

Cheers

Ok. Thanks for links. I am using currently Universal Media Server (which does transcoding pretty good) from my laptop.

However I am not searching for transcoding, I am searching for external subtitles support (which support some other popular brands).

I mean, transcoding is ok for powerful machine and fast netwrok, but it is not an option for less powerful NAS device (external subtitles are much lighter on resources - requires less CPU power and makes less network traffic).

And reason why I want NAS device is to run it non-stop (so I dont need to power on laptop each time I want to watch something).

Hey there

Fully understand that you dont want to use a laptop for DLNA streaming (inc subtitles) - this was one of my main issues a while ago too.  However I purchased a dedicated network media player, one of the best purchases i have ever made.

Another suggestion is to add your request to the following thread:

Thanks for link. I didn't know about it, will write on it.

Now about network media player... TV costed over 1000 euro's, I have kinda expected to have this as well (again comparing to other much cheaper brands that have this functionality).

I really like this TV, and I don't want to change it so I hope that Sony will implement it in near future.

Thanks again for all your help
