Turn-off promotional Banner on screen

I have a KDL32BX300

It appears a semi-transperant banner on screen, fading in and out constanly. It has promotional content and is extremly enoying. It appears on all "sources" (TV/AV/HDMI etc). I have looked in all available menues on the TV and there is no option to choose. I have made an system update with the latest firmware without any change to this problem.

What to do?

Just a guess, but it might be in "shop mode" I beleive that this puts promotional information on the screen. If you think this is the case then you need to do a factory reset - you will loose all your settings and will have to setup the channels again. In my TV, using the X-Media bar you need to go to Settings > System Settings > General Setup > Restore Factory Defaults. If this does not work, I have seen a thread where they say you need to:

Switch on the TV

Hold down the UP arrow key on the Sony Remote Control

While stillholding UP, press the POWER/STANDBY button on the front of the TV once.
Release the UP button

Whichever works for you, when it asks you for the location of the TV, make sure you select HOME and not RETAIL.
