I have moved your post to a new thread of its own as it wasnt relevent to the one you replied it.
What you have not mentioned is the model number of your TV. However its most likely that the TV does not support the file formats/codecs of the files you are trying to play - which the LG TV does. However if you reply back with the model number of your Sony TV, I should be able to find out what files it supports.
