TV selects AV input rather than digital channels when I switch it on

When I turn on my KDL EX 503 it briefly shows the digital channel number that it was last on but then switches to the AV input that my cable box is connected to. This happens even when the cable box is not turned on.

I'd like the default when I turn the TV on to be the built-in HD Freeview tuner, whereas at the moment I turn the TV on and get a blank screen as the cable box is usually switched off.

Any thoughts?

Try turning off the HDMI control in the TV
