4GB RAM UPGRADE

Hi...

I've god VAIO VGN-FE31M. I would like upgrade RAM from 1GB (2x512MB) to 4GB (2x2GB). Do you have any experience for this one ??? I found some modules on this webpage:

The FE31M only supports 2GB RAM max (1GB per slot).

I recommend that you have a look at Crucial.com for the best (and guaranteed memory of your system.

Dual-channel DDR2 667MHz Memory Support Up to 10.7GB/s of bandwith and up to 4GB memory addressability, for faster system responsiveness.

No you wouldn't because each slot will only accept a max. of 1GB. Hence they offer a 2GB kit (2 x 1GB).

I found on Crucial link from Vaio-Link discrepancy about RAM and upgrate. There stay:

Memory 1024 MB (Upgradeable to 2048 MB)
Memory Information SO-DIMM 533Mhz (DDR2)

But at

is recommendation for Model Category FE Module SODIMM DDR2 SDRAM with 667 Mhz (VGP-MM1GA). And sony.uk offer no one module for FE models. For me it's a bit confused. Is it right freq. 667 or 553 Mhz ???
I thing 553 mhz is actual freq. and 667 is also supported by motherboard (source INTEL).

And second point is about Upgrade at

There is Maximum Memory 2048 MB with Memory Type SO-DIMM - 533Mhz (DDR2) . But no sign, for one module or for two modules ? And again here is question about 533 or 667 Mhz ???

The 667Mhz module is backwardly compatible, so even if your motherboard can only handle 553Mhz these modules will work fine with your system but at the reduced speed.

I reiterate that according to all sources that I have checked your model has a maximum capacity of 1GB per slot so why do you expect to find 2GB modules offered?

I've got 4 gb ram instaled with succes in last few years. But now is problem with windows7 64bit. Till now I had 32bit Vista. Win7 have usable only 3gb ram. I can't change it in bios. But I would like to use 4 gb ram.

Any suggestion?
