A lot of problems with new VGN-SZ1XP/C

I bought the VGN-SZ1XP/C last week (2800 euro!) but I have a lot of problems: conflict between NVIDIA graphic card and some softwares (eg: antivirus NOD32, ESRI software like Arcgis), conflict between mousepad and mouse USB (like 10 years ago with some old notebooks!), conflict again between mousepad and wireless keyboard! All with "deep blue death" screen and reset of the notebook.
Anyone with same problems?
Any solution?

Hi - I just got my SZ1XP a few weeks ago and I have to say thatI I am really happy with this machine. The deisgn, is great, the wieight is just right as a portable, battery life on 'stamina mode' is impressive and the screen is simly 'fantastic'
Re vibrations - yes am feeling the same kind of vibrations on the pamrest -can be irritating at times :slight_frown:

I bought mine three days ago, and also have some problema.

- When it is reading a cdrom, and I move the laptop rotating it, the CD inside touches the internal side of the drive somewhere making a very loud noise, like when cutting metal.. By rotating I mean raising the front part (where the touchpad is) when leaving the back part (where the LEDs are) down. It makes the noise even when the movement is slow, so its is VERY irritating.

- The space key dont work if I press it on the left, the left 3 cm are useless. This is really annoying when typing long texts.

- When Im running on nvidia card, I get 2 process consuming 16% CPU each one: the card driver and csrss.exe. The CPU load is almost 40% all the time.

- Sometimes when I start windows I get a message about a fatal error in "winlogon.exe", and some times in SPMgr.exe too. When I end my session, I cannot start another user's session bescause all I see is a blue background with the mouse pionter (which is logical because winlogon has died). When I uninstall Protector Suite it doesnt happan, but then cant use the fingerprint reader

I dont know whats better, fix these problems or just get my money back....

EDIT: I forgotten one thing, about tryin to repair it. Im waiting two days for an email from eSupport, which is a bit longer than the 15 minutes they announce......

Tried using the norton removal tool to remove all norton software before installing your own AV software? If not then this could be a reason for these bluescreens.
regarding the CD touching : are you shure you pressed the CD's properly on to the center point?
In any case, please keep in mind that we are dealing with very compact units, and moving a PC when a CD is spinning is never a good idea...

Hi, thanks for your reply

Yes, the CD is correcty inserted in the drive, it happens always with any CD I insert... I know that I shouldnt move the laptop with a CD inside, but it even makes the noise when I got the computer on my knees and i move my legs a bit or take it with my hands to put it somewhere else (even if slowly).

Have any of you noticed the keyboard issue?? My space key is really annoynig :slight_frown:

At least I recived my eSupport login, lets see if they can help me....

The motherboard of my SZ1XP/C were broken. Sony changed my pc with a new one in 1 month (too slow service? fast service? I think slow because the laptop is not a cheap one). All the USB problems, the conflict with NOD32 and the resets problems now are solved.

Pay attention at the DEP service of WINXP SP2 when you install new softwares: you have to disable this with certain softwares.

I am happy to hear it is resolved, just would like to add one important tip:
After you open the box of your new mouse or keyboard that you want to use with your notebook, make sure you toss the bundled CD with the totally redundant software into the waste bin immediately. Under no circumstances insert it into your notebook or install the rubbish on it.
