I have a spare 60Gb HDD from my old machine. It's not lightning fast (5000ish rpm) but would do for a big MAME install. I would like to install this in my RS402
With the VAIO having no BIOS splash screen I can't figure how to set the 2nd HDD. From looking in "Hardware Profile", it seems that the exisiting HDD is on the primary IDE, with the 2 optical drives on thw secondary.
So I assume that the new HDD would have to be primary slave? Is this a correct assumption?
Ta
Yes - primary slave is right. If it doesn't work then you may need to use cable select. To enter the BIOS try tapping F2 just after you have started the computer.
Yup installed okay. Did mess up the settings for the card reader drives, had to fiddle about with them to get them back and with the correct icons etc. Touch wood everything seems okay.
I'm only going to store MAME files on this HDD, it's a few years old and not the fastest. But with none of the OS or my regular stuff being on it, will it slow up the sysytem or have noe effect?
It shouldn't affect the speed.
