Assist Button and System Recovery

Sony Vaio SVE1713Z1EB

 

My Vaio crashed for some reason and I could not start it again. So I decided to do a full system recovery without success

 

How do I run recovery from the recovery CDs I made?

 

I have just tried again as follows:

 

Pressed assist button

From the VAIOCare Rescue mode screen

Pressed F10 for “Recover or maintain your system”

 

Recovery

Your PC needs to be repaired

A required device isn’t connected or can’t be accessed

Error code: 0xc000000f

 

You will need to use the recovery tools on your installation media...etc

 

Switches off

 

Inserted Recovery Disc #1 of 6

 

Pressed power button

 

Does not try to boot from the recovery disc but boots from the hard drive

 

Blue screen with “please wait” in the middle

Blue screen with an icon “Welcome”

Black screen with pop up “VAIO Care (Rescue mode)

Blue screen “your PC ran into a problem ... restart”

Just noticed to boot from the CD drive

Press the assist button

Insert Recovery Disc 1

Press F11

Pressed Assist Button

Inserted Recovery Disc 1

Pressed F11 to run from CD drive

Black Screen with Vaio Logo

Choose the language - English US

Choose your keyboard layout - UK

Choose an option - Troubleshoot

Troubleshoot  - Recovery and maintenance

Recovery Tool

Choose a target OS - Windows 8

“Please wait while Vaio Care rescue mode is starting”

Select English and start Vaio Care (Rescue Mode)

Start Recovery Wizard

Skip Rescue

Are you sure you want to start recovery?

Yes I am sure

Formatting...

Restoring....

Inserted Disc 2

Inserted Disc 3

Inserted Disc 4

Inserted Disc 5

Inserted Disc 6

Started the recovery again from scratch

Same procedure as described above

Disc 6 ejected

The system was re-booted

<<odd because the hard drive was re-formatted during the restore process>>

I must say I am not impressed with Sony. Buy a computer for £1000 and it crashes after only four months and then the recovery discs you spent hours and hours cutting, make you spend days and days in frustration because they do not work

Hi gamorgan, there are a few updates available for your Vaio but as you can not start your Vaio then that is not much help now.

Probably best to contact the Sony support team it sounds like your recovery partition may be corrupt and or possible even a HDD problem.
