Hi,
I just put the new Avatar blu-ray disk into play and I get the message that the media is not supported. Other Blu-ray discs are playing fine. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how do I sort it out?
Thanks
Hi Charlie_Wray,
welcome to club VAIO..
What model Vaio do you have.?
Sony have announced..
Sony found that the Blu-ray title AVATAR cannot be played on some of VAIO machines pre-installed with WinDVD BD (a product made by Corel Corporation).
Corel Corporation has confirmed this issue, and is working on a solution.
This information can also be found on the Corel webpage .
Depending on which Vaio model you have, I suggest you first check that you have the latest version of Win DVD installed on your vaio, if this doesn't solve the problem then hopefully an update of WinDVD BD to become available either through VAIO Update or via the Vaio support download site for your Vaio model.
FYI
I hit the problem. Actually replaced the laptop thinking it was faulty.
I managed to get Avatar to work even though at the time I did not realise it was an Avatar problem rather than a drive issue.
My Steps.
1. Play back on ps3.
2. Ps3 asked me if I wanted to continue playback. I said no.
3. Went back to the title screen.
4. Ejected the disc from the PS3 and retried on the laptop.
5. All ok!
Theory.... Current location is written to Avatar disk and this is not supported by WinDvd.
Hope this helps someone.
