Battery Back Up on my VAIO is a Disaster !
Dear All,
It is with a lot of passion and some research about the Laptops that Sony Vaio makes, I thought of going for the Vaio, But It has been a major disappointment, in the sense the Battery Back-Up that these guys promised and were talking about has all gone for a Toss, I feel some False claims that they have made . The Battery Back up on my model is disastrous. I was told on my model VGN-FZ35GN the battery Back-Up is 2.5- 3 Hours and guess what in even less then 1 hour always normally my battery gets completely drained and everytime I have to get it charged which also results in a lot of Power consumption. I am fed up
with the battery support on my model. Please people tell me what do I do, how do I improve the battery performance of my Laptop
. I always keep it on a Balance performer status.
Thanks !

If you believe your Vaio battery is faulty then contact Sony Vaio Support for the area of the world where it was marketed.
If you are looking for general tips on how to make your battery last, then try Google.
I attached the Sony method they use to calculate the battery life to give you ideas of what can be turned off to save power.
I do not know your model - it isn't a Sony Europe Vaio - but I see the battery duration for all FZ-Series models in Europe is between 1 hour 55 minutes and 2 hours 15 minutes. In normal use this will be considerably less. Your model is on the Sony Asia-Pacific website here: -
http://www.sony-asia.com/product/vgn-fz35gn
It says maximum battery life is 2.5 hours. There is an extended life battery available as an accessory which says 4.5 hours.

I can recommend 3 things.
1. Change the Power Plan to Vaio Ultimate and reduce the screen brightness on battery only. You will get 90mins to 2hrs.
2. Never leave the laptop on mains with the battery in. Take the battery out (with the power off) and run without the battery in. My laptop now (1yr old) only lasts 10 mins on Vaio Ultimate as I left it plugged in relying on the power management to protect the battery.
3. Check the battery against its spec. My Vaio FZ38M which is 1 year old lasted 20mins when it was new on Vaio Optimised, 1hr on Power saver. I should have at least checked the specification and made sure the battery was in spec as the battery guarantee is only 6 months.
