Battery duration

I own a Sony VAIO VGN-FS115S laptop since July 2005.

When the laptop works powered by the battery, only the percentage of the remaining supply is displayed, not the time duration. Does anyone have the same problem? How can I fix it?

i think, you can only see the percent but not the time.
I have looked on my one, but there is no changing from percent into time.

Is that normal for VAIO notebooks? All the other notebooks show the time remaining, why VAIO don't?

Another question: how much should the battery last? I was quite disappointed in noticing mine lasts less than two hours (with the "MAX duration of VAIO battery" energy saving profile set). I thought it was due to the peculiar technology of the LCD, but I have recently observed other notebooks of other brands, with the same kind of LCD: they last much longer, 3 or even 4 hours!

i think, that this is normal wíth vaio notebooks.
on my one, it takes with battery between 1 1/2 and 2 hours.

they have another battery, which are very expensive.

Uhm... that's very bad... At the moment I don't see any reason why I should buy a Sony VAIO again, nor why I should suggest it to my friends.

Let's sum up all the pro and cons. You are invited to add yours and/or comment those already reported.

Pro: ?

Cons:

- the battery lasts less than two hours;

- when works with the battery doesn't show the remaining time;

- vaio web site doesn't support browsers other than Internet Explorer (despite the fact IE is ranked among th Most Critical Internet Security Vulnerabilities, according to the Sans Institute, and its use should be therefore discouraged);

- doesn't have a button or shortcut to switch off the display;

Another con:

- it actually has a 75GB hard disk, 7GB of which are taken as "Recovery Partition", so you end up to have a 68GB hard disk, not an 80GB as you would have expected.

Hi, I've a FS215S and I have found the same problem of life battery: 1 and 1/2 or at least 2 hours!! Wonderful centrino!

Pro:
- exciting case!
-good weight
-optimum LCD

Well... I agree with the very nice case and optimum LCD, but I disagree with the weight. Mine weighs 2.9Kg, it's quite much for a Centrino. A good weight would be 2.5Kg.
