battery life freezing

hi everyone with vaio pocket,
i bought a 40gb,vaio and very disappointed.i have seen the threads and agree,the battery life is rediculous i don't get anything like 8hrs.if left unused after full charge for 2 days the battery is fully discharged
another annoying problem it freezes after downloading photos and watching a slide show.each time you have to reset that means setting the time etc.
since installing latest software while charging it shows only clock no way knowing when the battery is fylly charged.
please any one has any solutions?.i get no where with sony help line.waste of hard earned money to only fill sony sharehollder's pockets

When you are charging the unit there is still a small lightning bolt at the bottom of the screen under clock.. this disappears once charging is complete.

I have the 40GB... I charge it about once a week... and use it everyday on my commute and in the office.. to maximise the battery life I have ut on lowest brightness, shut backlight off after 10 secs and put the machine on hold when using it.. so the screen shuts down. I am very happy with the battery life.. and see no reason why you would not get near 20 hours if you had it constantly playing. The biggest issue seems to be the power usage when the machine is off.. but mine will survive over a week I think.. which was alot better than the 2 days or so I got before the firmware upgrade.

hi i have the same problem the battery life is appualinmg but ill do what uv said and get back to you. my biggest concern is the stalling of teh pocket. it just completlyfreezes aqnd if u try and turn it off it will go into the black screen mode saying switching off but never does as if its struck. the only thing i can do is reset it.can u plz tell me what this is and how i shoudl get rid of it.

i have the 40GB vgf1p1-L model.

is it the same track/ a selection of the same tracks that cause it to crash? the one time mine's crashed was when the mp3 it was playing was corrupted, as far as i know it's the only reason my brother's has crashed as well. and we're both getting good battery life from them...
