Hello:
I've heard on CNN, that SONY is going to recall power batteries from certain chain of notebooks. I have SONY VAIO VGN-FS315MR, and the battery life leaves to desire much more... I wonder who should I apply to in order to find out if my notebook is eligible... Thanks so much for explanations beforehand!
Hello, perhaps you can provide a link for this story? I have looked on CNN and on Znet but can only find reference to Toshiba on the 29th issueing a statement that they are to recall batteries, but still nothing on Sony recalling any. As far as i now they still maintain that the system used to charge the batteries is still safe so the same risks do not apply as to the other brands. So if you can find the article post it so we can find out more
Does not have any links. Sorry: it was on the air about 4 days ago.

"However, as addressing customers’ concerns is foremost in our minds, VAIO management is currently assessing the position on the notebook computer battery packs and considering whether to participate in this voluntary replacement program"
This is the important bit - they're CONSIDERING it, so why the HECK does CNN go and say they ARE.
Misleading and bad journalism
Correct!, but nowhere is Sony saying anything about VAIO. Sony is thinking of a recall for batteries for all vendors where necessary. VAIO Management is now checking if it is needed for VAIO. I suppose it is up to each PC Vendor to decide by themselves, regardless of Sony battery company statement.
That is why there is a Sony general statement and a VAIO Europe statement which is slightly different.
I doubt they will unless there are any reported problems from Vaio users (such as their battery causing a fire) so I wouldn't hold my breath.
my vaio gets hotter than the battery and sony wont address that
Yes Didier, read it carefully though
