Hi Anyone ever come across this error message before BD-J ERROR CODE :0300 when playing a blu-ray disc. The screen say's visit you manufacturers website for updates but when i checked there aren't any. other blu-ray discs play fine any idea how i can solve this problem? laptop i use is a sony vgn-fz38m.

Have you installed the BD-Combo Drive Firmware UJ-120B -1.04 available for download here: -

There is also a new version of WinDVD BD just been released (WinDVD BD Update -8.0.9.754 ). It is showing for some models but not all models yet.

I tried to use the firmware update but it says that it does not apply to this dvd/cd combo drive any idea what else i could try to resolve this?

I believe it is a Blu-Ray Java problem.

You could try updating your Java platform on the Sun Microsystems website http://uk.sun.com/ but I think it is more sensible to speak to Sony Support first on this one.
