Hi smart2005

welcome to Club VAIO..

does anything in the following MS knowledge base help: "Stop 0x000000A5 the ACPI BIOS in the system is not fully compliant with the ACPI specification" err... ..

Thanks Thalamus. To start with I didnt change my RAM like that and issue has just started while I changed my RAM two years back so heres the complete story:

While booting, I used to get the following error message in an error window:
"lsass.exe"
operation request was unsuccessful

following which computer would not boot. If by any means it did boot, it gave me message of new hardware found.
"ACPI Uniprocessor found"

At times I have also recieved a blue screen with the big error message saying:

0x000000A5 (0x00000011, 0x00000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your system vendor or visit http://www.hardware-update.cm for an updated BIOS. If you are unable to obtain an updated BIOS or the latest BIOS supplied by your vendor is not ACPI compliant, you can turn off ACPI mode during text mode setup. To do this, simply press the F7 key when you are prompted to install storage drivers. The system will not notify you if F7 key was pressed it will silently disable ACPI and allow you to continue installation.

I have gone through the articles mentioned below at Microsoft and it suggested that system vendor i.e, you should be providing us with an update BIOS that is ACPI compliant.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314830/
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831691

I have reinstalled the WINDOWS and then downloaded and installed all the latest drivers and still the problem persists.

Hi smart2005,

reading around the error message seems to have been related to a RAM issue, have you tried removing, cleaning and reseating your RAM modules.?

Have you tried resetting the BIOS to default settings.?

Did you install or make any changes prior to the BIOS is not ACPI compliant message appearing.?

Yes I did removed and reseated the RAM but with no success. I had installed 1GB RAM in 2007 and is the only modification I did. The issue just came up by itself. Also how can i ask them to send me original software?

Thanks

PS:
The most irritating stuff about the dumb vaio support is that after filling in the query form there is no submit button to finish off. Here is the link 4 u to try.
