also can any1 tell me whats thwe difference?

Blu ray only.

BluRay are read with a blue laser instead of a red one so you can store more data on them currently up to 50GB whereas HD DVDs can only hold 25GB.

You can also play Bluray movies which are of HD quality which is much better than your average DVD.

Unfortunately your AR31E does not have a blu Ray drive, so can not play blu Ray disc's....

I have heard rumors you can use the XBOX 360 HD DVD drive via USB on a PC.
