Bluray playback on an VPCF12M0E/B

All

I purchased a VPCF12M0E/B last week.

No bluray playback.

When I insert a blu ray disk, WinDvd starts , whirls on the disk for a minute, Then tells me Media Not supported.

Windows Media player says the same thing.

I replaced the laptop today with my retailer thinking it was a faulty drive.

My new laptop exhibits exactly the same problems suggesting its a general problem or some additional configuration/installation is required.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi Jem.

Try opening WinDVD from the 'All Programs' search in the Start button.

Right-click on the WinDVD BD screen and select Settings.

Check the Version of WinDVD BD installed - post the version here.

Check the drive is set to Region B for BD Discs.

An update on this......

I only have the single blu ray disc.

I put it in my ps3 to ensure it was ok and it plays fine.

The interesting thing is my PS3 asked me if I wanted to resume play. I said no and it played from the start.

I stopped it and put it into the laptop. it plays!

FYI. The movie is Avatar on Bluray.

So my current theory is the disk itself was at fault not the played.

However it was not my understanding that information (such as current location) was written to the disk.
