Hi Andy,

This may be a longshot but try resetting the BIOS to defaults - tap F2 at boot to enter BIOS settings.

Hi Andy,

Mystery indeed!

Is there any disk activity (flashing LED) prior to having to press a key to proceed and is there any message?

It may be that a system file is missing or currupt and pressing a key aborts the search. If so a Startup Repair may help.

Hi Andy,

Does it boot successfully in Safe Mode? Tap F8 at boot for this option.

In that case it would seem that at normal startup there is either a driver missing or currupt or a service that for some reason is unable to start.

Troubleshooting can be time consuming but I suggest you start by trying a selective startup.
